Eyeball tattoos can literally turn your brown eyes blue

Saturday, April 11, 2009

To start your Saturday morning off right, here's a delightful picture of a gentleman who tattooed the whites of his eyes blue. Enjoy breakfast!

People have been getting corneal tattoos for years to cover up scars resulting from burns and other injuries, but now you can also get your eyeballs tattooed for cosmetic reasons. While tattooing eyes for cosmetic reasons is not exactly new, it is still rather rare. Nevertheless, Oklahoma state senators were sufficiently creeped out by the whole business that this February they passed legislation banning eyeball tattoos.

If you're tempted to go (literally) stick a needle in your eye, you should know that you'll risk infection, blindness and other serious health problems. Also, eyeball tattoos can't be removed... But hey, if you've always wanted to take your Dune cosplay to the next level, here's your chance.

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
