Gerard Brion is a young Frenchman who has built an incredibly detailed model of Paris in his own backyard. Using the most humble of supplies - baby food jars, tin cans, cinder blocks - Brion began work in his teens and spent 15 years building scale models of the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Sacré Coeur. His backyard City of Lights has become a prime tourist spot in his hometown of Vaissac in southern France.
Seeing this makes me want to go crazy and build a mini Los Angeles in my own backyard. Then whenever I had a particularly frustrating afternoon on the freeway, I could go out back and smash my mini 405 into bits. Actually, I don't think my mini Los Angeles would last long. The chance to play Godzilla and go on a citywide rampage would be too tempting.
