BUY THIS: STAR TREK: ELITE FORCES II
Friday, November 27, 2009
The rockets are running low on fuel again (and the monsters are getting cranky from being underfed), so I gotta do some hustling to keep the doors open around this joint. In Buy This, I'm going to list my fantastic and crazily underpriced Amazon merchandise. And you are going to buy it.
Star Trek: Elite Force II is the sequel to Star Trek: Voyager: Elite Force, a game that even the Voyager haters had to admit was pretty bad-ass. As Elite Force II begins your crack squad of Federation commandos is just finishing up a mission for Voyager aboard the Borg command vessel. Once you succesfully complete that mission (or if you do), you then you find yourself transferred aboard the USS Enterprise-E, serving under Jean Luc Picard. Between missions you get to wander all over the ship and interact with the crew. The game is set after Nemesis, so you get a weird sort of coda to the Next Generation-era Trek we probably won't be seeing much of in this new J.J. Abrams age.
You beam down for all sorts of adventures, the game is huge and the graphics are impressive. You visit swamp worlds, mining stations, alien warships, Starfleet Academy, Romulan prison camps, and more. There's plenty of action, but this is a proper Trek game and there's time to explore and solve puzzles too. (The bonus levels and training missions are also great fun, taking you to places you'd never expect.)
The game is apparently pretty rare already, and Amazon is selling it new for $186! But I like you, so I'll let you have it for just $60, and that's including the original box, the CD key, both disks and the manual. A lot of these guys on Amazon will try to sell you an incomplete package of this game, missing the box, the manual or other crucial things. What kind of p'tach do they take you for, huh?
Not sold yet? Well, check out this trailer, complete with weirdly inappropriate techno music.
